In 2006, Igloo Design developed the retail interior of Blume, a hip floral shop favoured by Quebec celebrities. Located on trendy St. Laurent Boulevard in Montréal, this 3,000-square-foot industrial-chic space features concrete floors and dramatic, high ceilings. We capitalized on these strengths and created a spare, modern design and fixtures using natural woods, colours and textures that keep the focus on the flowers. A clever analysis of the architecture inspired us to conceal two unsightly columns within a spectacular, custom-designed counter and a flower fridge that became the showcase of the space. With clean and contemporary shelves, floral work stations on view and an area to relax and sip an espresso, our interior design of Blume gives the retail space an art gallery atmosphere. Customers agree: the loft-like space is popular for special events and weddings, and even served as an on-set location for Salut, Bonjour!.
